WinXP SP1 update for Corporate version doesn't need new key
Posted By Haha

! Important ! Please read this if you own a illegal version of Windows XP

Ok, before I have read that news article about that if you have a copy of Microsoft Windows XP Volume License Version installed on the computer and wants to update to SP1 you will need a new key, well that's certainly not true!!

When I install the service pack, the wizard checks my product key and all the systems information, then it apply the files ( I backed up all the files of course just in case something will happen). After it is done I reboot the computer. No time during the installation they asked me for a new product key. Ok, now the computer has rebooted and they still didn't ask me for any product key. So the service pack was applied and no new product key was required.

Well I don't assume that the article posted before was a lie. There are several things I have to point out here. When I install the corporate version of WinXP, I didn't use any of the leaked XP keys that you can find on the internet or Microsoft consider that they were leaked. I used a keygen to generate a XP Corporate version key instead. Microsoft might only check for the leaked keys. The second thing is the Pidgen.dll file, which generates the key for Windows XP, didn't have much changed besides the Offset values and the pidgin.dll file changed in both regular version and the Corporate Version of XP. The last thing is that the SP1 file that I have download might have patch in there which I don't know of, so maybe that's the only file that do not require new key.

Anyways, I have also applied the update to my legal version of WinXP it also successed. Well, no matter how much you have heard about things is never better than when you see what is exactly like.

Unlocking WinXP's setupp.ini
Posted By scooby_foo

WinXP's setupp.ini controls how the CD acts. IE is it an OEM version or retail? First, find your setupp.ini file in the i386 directory on your WinXP CD. Open it up, it'll look something like this:
